Customer
Large power-to-heat company
Meeting strict compliance and tight deadlines was the primary challenge for a large power-to-heat operator managing multiple assetsboiler units across different sites. They needed accurate models that reflected both the physical assets and their control systems. A set of first-of-its-kind unit model requirements.
The operator faced a complex situation: each unit had unique characteristics; compliance requirements were strict, and timelines were tight. Traditional modeling approaches were too slow and inconsistent to meet these demands.
Through the Unit Model Engine – a reusable, parameterizable template approach, the customer obtained high-quality models that included physical system representation, control logic, and alarm/protection functions. The models were validated in both PSCAD and PowerFactory, ensuring consistent behavior across platforms. Complete documentation, including user manuals and performance reports, supported traceability and simplified future updates.
