Grid compliance in hybrid power plants: Responsibility in multi-supplier setups
Technical article

In this article, we examine how grid compliance is addressed in hybrid power plants and highlight the limitations of current models of delivery and responsibility.
In practice, compliance is not assessed per component but based on the combined behavior of the entire plant. As system complexity increases, interactions between control systems and misaligned assumptions across suppliers can lead to non-compliant behavior, even when individual components meet requirements.
These issues are often identified late, during simulations or commissioning, when mitigation becomes more complex and costly.
The key implication is that grid compliance must be treated as a plant-level responsibility. It requires clear ownership, early coordination, and alignment across all suppliers. Without this, hybrid projects face increased technical and commercial risk.
